What is Paradise?

Sew  ... what is paradise....  Anywhere I can paddle my own little kayak is my idea of paradise....
A view of nothing but water and just me and a clear sky in the sun is just great.... of course I have my many cameras and monopod and fishing rods and cooler chest, a couple of books and an anchor..... so it is not totally out there in the wild..............but almost.....

Yep that is my coffee mug too... well it was early in the morning... girls gotta have her coffee!

That is my little Sea Eagle 330... ready for takeoff
I looked out from my cottage porch in Castaways... and knew what was going to be paradise in my kayak that day!

Yep!  that is Assateague you see in the skyline..... so away I went!
This cottage was in the Club Castaways portion and boy I was in heaven every day...

There was a little island to the right.... Just tiny... went there one day....
As you approach Assateague you start to see Mother Nature staring back at you!
Of course you have to paddle up to the ponies.... you are at Assateague... Just not too close!!

Okay... THE NEXT DESTINATION.... for overnight kayaking is Janes Island State Park in Crisfield MD

I am thinking I can drive there if I leave early in the morning and if I want to stay overnight just rent a cabin.  It looks like a wonderful place to go and take pictures.  Quiet and relaxing.

I have a list of Parks with cabins and kayaking launches from DNR that I am thinking I should try driving to and seeing which are worthy for staying a few days...The Janes Island State Park Website

Looks like fun is coming soon!   Just checking in because my day off is tomorrow and Sunday for kayaking fun...weather permitting, of course.

The Ice has melted....Yes!!!

soooo ....  I could hardly wait for the ice to melt... I kept driving to Black Hill Regional in Clarksburg and then back again to Lake Needwood trying to find water.....  Nice clear water....

So every day off... away I would go with my little kayak in the back of my hatchback looking for water.... here is what I found
a sweet little squirrel in the boathouse at Needwood looked at me like...REALLY???!!!
Still Icy on Sunday 3-15-2015
Hard to believe this is the 17th and the next two pictures are the 15th

Very little water showing... just frozen-even though it was beautiful out..

Then on the 17th we have the water back... so next time... I will be on it with my kayak as long as the Ides of March don't keep me on land.
It was warm enough for the duckies and the even a goose stopped by.........

You can tell it is windy by the caps blowing with the water
Kayaking days here we come!!... Got my regional boat pass that covers Needwood and Black Hill
Looking for some fun days off starting this week...  hopefully Friday.....  YES!!!

Kayakin' Crazy but The Water is barely there!

So, spring is trying to pop out, the birds were singing and I was thinking how beautiful it was out.  My kayak always being in my hatchback ready to go, I decided to drive out to the local and closest Lake in Rockville, MD.   I pulled up to Lake Needwood my favorite spot and not  a drop of water to be seen........   I then proceeded to go to Black Hill Regional - 20930 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds, Maryland 20841 - Really just past Germantown Milestone Shopping Center off 355.  This is such a beautiful Park - more than 2,000 acres -Little Seneca Lake is more than 500 acres in size.

From The Regional Parks Website---
"Explore the beauty of nature on the Black Hill Water Trail. Rent a canoe, kayak or rowboat (or bring your own), pick up a laminated Water Trail map, and take a self-guided discovery tour of Little Seneca Lake" -"All boats must comply with Maryland State, U.S. Coast Guard and M-NCPPC regulations and standards. Use of gasoline motors is strictly prohibited; only electric motors are permitted. All boats must be off the lake by official sunset. For a complete list of regulations

Brochure to Print   They haven't put on the new one yet.

Today March 8, 2015  The lake is totally covered....
You could barely see water from my boat ramp normal entry
Some of the lake is thawing by the pontoon boat ramp

Then I went back to Lake Needwood on the way home and saw the water starting to show and the geese coming in for a landing...  in the morning the geese were on top of the water.. When I went back some had found some water where the ice had thawed......
Where I usually enter Lake Needwood

The water was pretty much covered up to the island
See the poor little duckies and Geese heads as they want water
Well, I guess I just have to wait for more water..... but sooon..... cause I am Kayakin' Crazy right now!
