Kayaking in the heat.... Take the water-Clopper Lake June 23, 2015

Sooo, yes I have been kayaking, but I guess I didn't take my cameras or forgot to take
pictures because I was soooo involved?... I have no idea

Lately my place of choice has been Clopper Lake at

link to Seneca Creek State Park

It is easy for me to get to on my day off...   I do love  Black Hill Regional Park, but it is just enough further that I can't squeek it in when I have lots of errands to run

From a distance I think it is my friend that was looking for someone
Remember this blog?..I am not really sure but it looks like him doesn't it?
Remember how he stood making weird gulping noises for long periods of time?......  Well I think he found her.....
It is a big world, but he did....

Aren't they cute?... So amazing...
I tried to find some shade, but it was 95 and afternoon... so
There was a camp or girl scouts there so paddleboats were out and so was the pontoon tour.... I couldn't get away.... I threw my anchor, got my book had my hat on... but the heat made me go in after a couple of hours... not my usual lounging time...  I  paddled the length a couple of times and gave up and went in... sooooo hot
Always nice to be able to go out.... just bring that water and splash it on yourself and drink it and cool off so you don't feel zonked!  and Please take your empty water bottle back home with you.  Do NOT LITTER.

Kayaking- Gaithersburg, Maryland Clopper Lake on June 12, 2015

Thought it was nice out, but had to run errands.... by the time I got to Clopper the wind was blowing up the clouds.... but I needed to test my old kayak and see if it was travelling okay... I hadn't been out in that kayak for a while...

Pardon the foot... It was gorgeous for a while (the weather I mean, not my foot)
It was like a sheet of glass, slightly breezy but stillwater
I paddled around, enjoyed myself for a little while... no birds
Beautiful, no matter which way you looked
I could see the fish jumping, but I didn't have a chance to fish
The clouds started sliding together and then the shower came
I paddled to shore, put my kayak in the car... rain stopped!!!
It sure was pretty, just wanted to go back out, but I went home

Kayaking at Gaithersburg, Maryland Seneca Creek State Park on Clopper Road - Clopper Lake

June 9 - Tuesday  I paddled at Clopper Lake

There with the lake to myself until around 7:30  park closes at 8:30

I had many wonderful paddle hours and even stopped at the end and read my book while I anchored for a little while

I have a Seasonal Pass Hang Tag from DNR that I hang from my auto mirror to drive through the gate - boat ramp is easy and a small parking lot there for the boaters although on Sundays it sometimes gets filled by picnicers from accross the way  The daily fees are collected at the gate, but it is not always manned mostly on Weekends-Sat and Sun or before 3PM weekdays..  I try to make everything simple pay at the beginning of the year so I can just drive through wherever I go...

A golden age pass may work here.

Beautiful day on the Lake
Very Quiet-a bit windy and I only saw one wild friend

Sometimes you have to look really hard-from a distance he    blended in and looked like part of the tree

As usual  he looked at me and decided he would do a standoff

He let me take some pictures and preened a little

He watched me out of the side of his eye
He made sure he was ready to pose
He seemed to look right at me and then took off?!
He just moved over so he could let me get close and he posed
He let me get very close, then he changed positions alternately
Once the contortions started I decided to paddle on
Got out my Trusty anchor and read some more of my book

A Good Day for a Paddle around!!!

Kayaking at Germantown-Boyds Maryland-Black Hill Regional Park

So, June 7th Sunday I went to Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds Maryland
I have a Seasonal Pass... when boating here you are to get a daily pass-pay at the visitors center before you put your boat in or at the boat ramp if there are envelopes there to put in the box

Please Pay your fees when using the MD ramps  so that these facilites have money to continue lettings us use them.... and don't litter the water anywhere you go ...take your empty water bottles with you and your trash in the trash containers  ... but not bee attractors in the trashcan at the actual ramp itself...      Do Unto Others as you want done to you....      I am sure you don't want bees swarming you as you try to put your boat in..

Don't have your kids fishing where it says NO FISHING....   don't LOITER if it says NO LOITERING on the boat docks.....  We use the boat docks and as you can see in the picture there were people ignoring the rules..  I have seen Police checks on boat permits and fishing licenses etc at this lake

Link to Park

Once out in the water it is big enough to paddle away
People on every public area
I really like going during the week better-very busy, but great
Even little ones were out in kayaks and fishing-dad was nearby
There were many out for the day
The elders were looking out for the youngers and ducks geese and people
Proud parents were nearby

Hardest part was managing the boat ramp-Loitering and fishing off ramp-picnicers in boating area-Sunday always

Great day for yaking and fishing and lots of company

Kayaking Postings of Past

Well what can I say?  So many places to go but....
Today I got my State Park Pass in the mail from MD DNR services and I got my Park Visitor Guide, plus Guides to the water trails at Point Lookout and Pocomoke....

Yes, it looks great in the pictures, but I know to wear my Bullfrog Sunscreen and Bugrepellant combo.   So far this has worked from me and it is combo so it is great for my all day and evening kayaking....I always thank the day I found it a few years ago.

Paradise of peace...in Berlin, MD

Evening Sunset from porch
I am only going to post this once....  Beautiful tranquil setting...  My new favorite place

Back Bay Bungalows in Berlin, Maryland Back Bay Bungalows Link

Efficiency Cottage - Queen Bed-Bring your own linens and sleep sofa if you want to have others come with you...  Beautiful views from all your windows..  Off in a setting all its own, 3 other small cottages or a 2 bedroom or a house that can be rented with 4 bedrooms...  but the views in this setting are spectacular... It is at the end of a peninsula... a lovely large creek on one side with lovely Egrets along the creek bed and heron .... so bring your binoculars, cameras and or use the kayaks or canoes supplied by BBB....   2 fishing piers  and hammocks, gliders and every porch has the chairs.  There is a firering, and outdoor games if you bring friends.  But it is great just for relaxing.  Location is not far from local grocery, restaurants or if you want the activity and bustle you can just slip around the corner to Ocean City.   I preferred the tranquility.   For kayakers it is half hour from Pocomoke River State Park with lots of kayaking, or an hour from Janes Island State Park... -for kayaking and birding. The birds in my previous 2 or three posts were from staying here!!!... my new paradise
Adorable cottages but my favorite is the Blue cottage
Lovely kitchen with coffee pot and utensils-books are mine...
A lovely bathroom... and a dresser for you clothes-no closet
keep this place nice if you go.... I plan on coming back many times.

The blanket and pillow was mine, and shoes by door, I found home
In this cottage every view was water-Rain or Shine I loved it!
